As a young person, I longed to be married and have a family. I studied several books on this. I watched parents of really great families in my church hoping to model my family after theirs.

In spite of this, I lost my first marriage. As hard as I tried, I could not save my marriage. Many people felt our situation was extraordinarily difficult as my first wife suffered from bipolar disorder and took some wild directions in life. After several years of agony and healing and studying again, I eventually remarried and now know what it is to have a truly great marriage.

Here are some e-books I personally found excellent!

  • 50 Secrets of Blissful Relationships by Michael Webb. It usually comes with a second e-book called 50 More Secrets of Blissful Relationships.
  • 1000 Questions for Couples If you’re married or plan to be married, this is a fun and helpful way to make sure your relationship is as healthy and strong as it can be. Eileen and I went through many of these questions before we were married.

The NoDivorces Bookstore

The NoDivorces Bookstore has many excellent books on marriage and family. Including these below

  • Torn Asunder was recommended to me by a couple who had survived an affair, and I found the book to be excellent.
  • Boundaries I read this book on my own, and it was excellent.
  • Boundaries in Marriage I went through the videos and book with couples in our church in Pleasanton, and though I felt some pain in being the only recently divorced person in the group, I still wanted to attend and learn and be a part of the group, so the books have a special significance to me. They’re quite excellent.
  • Love Must Be Tough was a great book, but I personally found myself too weak to do the intervention that is so often recognized by many excellent marriage counselors. The fear of losing a marriage can be intense and cloud one’s mind. But, sadly, this fear I had is a very common barrier in saving a marriage.
